Chapter Service & Philanthropy
The CASA 5K is Alpha Rho's fall philanthropy event. The event consists of a 5K walk/run that is open to the public. The KAT's in the kitchen also prepare hotdogs and the fixings for a grill out for all to enjoy. Our CASA 5K provides great fun for the whole family while giving back to the kids!
KatWalk is Alpha Rho's spring philanthropy event. The event consists of a fashion show of clothes and accessories sponsored by local boutiques. The event also includes food and a silent auction. At the end of the fashion show, the KAT's host a friendly male model competition.
Alpha Rho Theta's are known for their contributions to service throughout the community. Thetas are involved in several volunteer organizations including: SERVE, Colleges Against Cancer, Habitat for Humanity, AWOL, SESDAC, the Salvation Army, and several others.
A Message from our Service and Philanthropy Director:
A vital aspect of Kappa Alpha Theta’s thriving legacy is our dedication to service. As leading women, we identify the importance in not only academics and involvement, but ministration as well. Over the years this dedication has become a huge component of the identity of Kappa Alpha Theta. This fraternity has stood by Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for over 25 years now and relishes in the millions donated, and countless volunteer hours supporting both local and National CASA programs. CASA is an association that trains volunteer advocates for abused and neglected children. Alpha Rho’s relationship with local CASA chapters is absolutely treasured. We look forward to a great future of support through our events, 5K for CASA and Katwalk.
Last year CASA volunteers helped 238,000 abused and neglected children find safe, permanent homes. As our fraternity’s national philanthropy, Thetas across the county dedicate their time and talent to raise money for the volunteers of CASA organizations. The Alpha Rho chapter is no different, and we pride ourselves in the help we provide for this worthy cause. In addition to supporting our national philanthropy, Alpha Rho participates in a wide variety of volunteer and service organizations inside and outside of Vermillion, with each member averaging over 30 service hours.
