Chief Executive Officer
A Letter From the President: Hello and welcome to the Alpha Rho Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta at the University of South Dakota. My name is Madisyn Waage, and I am honored to serve as the Chief Executive Officer in this chapter of brilliant, talented and driven leading women. The Alpha Rho chapter has thrived on USD’s campus for more than one hundred years, and I am proud to be part of such a remarkable legacy. Here at Kappa Alpha Theta, we are guided by our Fraternity’s four points of the kite—personal excellence, leadership potential, commitment to service, and intellectual curiosity. We pride ourselves on our high academic performance at the University and have achieved the top GPA on campus for 47 of the last 50 semesters. You may find Alpha Rho Thetas fundraising for Colleges Against Cancer, leading peers on AWOL’s service-learning trips, cheering on our athletic teams, or planning USD’s next Dance Marathon. We have traveled the world through study abroad programs and mission trips, expanded our knowledge through research opportunities, and created meaningful connections with business leaders through internships across the nation. Finally, our chapter demonstrates a strong commitment to service by supporting our national philanthropy Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), an organization that provides support for children in the court system through no fault of their own. Fundraising events are organized each semester to raise awareness and donate to CASA. Aside from this, we work for the greater good of our community through organizations like Big Pal, Little Pal and Adopt-A-Grandparent. Kappa Alpha Theta has provided me with a home away from home, a support system of loving women, and a set of values by which I strive to live my life. I never imagined Theta would change my life so much in such a short period of time. I am humbled by the opportunity to lead an exceptional group of women as President in 2018. Even after my college years, I am certain the friendships I have made will endure. After all, Theta is for a lifetime. Loyally, Madisyn Waage
